New beginnings at Frogmore Junior School

Excited children at Frogmore Junior School returned after the summer holidays to find an enormous egg on their school field, covered in straw and guarded by their local police community support officer.

The children had plenty of suggestions as to why it was there but, whatever proves to be inside the egg, it is not the only new beginning at the School this term.  Frogmore Junior School opened its doors on Thursday, 5th September as an academy sponsored by the University of Chichester Academy Trust (CAT), the Multi-Academy Trust established by the University of Chichester.

Headteacher Mrs Sarah Thorpe M.Ed. leads the new academy, which will provide an excellent all-round education for children aged 7-11, taking advantage of the extra freedoms of academy status to introduce new elements into the curriculum.

Mrs Thorpe said: “It’s an exciting time for us.  Parents and the local community have responded very positively to the academy plans and I have been made very welcome already.  We will benefit in all kinds of ways from our links with the University, including access to the latest education research and opportunities to extend our curriculum in areas such as Art and Music.

“Perhaps they can even tell us what is inside the egg!”
