For some children who are considered to be at a disadvantage compared to their peers, the government allocates schools with additional funding so that these children can be provided with the best education and support. This is called Pupil Premium funding. There are various categories of children whose schools can receive Pupil Premium funding. These include children from low income families who are eligible for free school meals, children from service families, children adopted from care or who left care under a Special Guardianship Order or those who left care under a Residence Order.
Please ask at the school office for help in checking your child's eligibility for free school meals. Alternatively, low income families can do an eligibility check themselves online via the Parents page of the school website or http://www3.hants.gov.uk/hc3s/freeschoolmeals.htm. The process is entirely confidential. (Note: Your child does not have to take advantage of the free lunches in order to benefit from the Pupil Premium grant which school will receive on their behalf.)
