Frogmore

Junior School

School Governors

The role of governing bodies in all schools is to have a strong focus on three core strategic functions:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  2. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the academy and its pupils; and
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the academy and making sure its money is well spent.

In addition, as part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust, governors of Frogmore Junior School are expected to work in partnership with the University and the other academies in the Trust to secure excellence for our students.

The University of Chichester Academy Trust has set up a small, strong Local Governing Body for Frogmore Junior School. The Governors at our school are chosen by parents (Parent Governors), the school staff (Teacher and Staff Governors), the governing body itself (Community Governors) and the University of Chichester Academy Trust (Directors or their agent).  A list of our current school governors, including a Register of their Interests, can be viewed below.

Being a school governor is a rewarding voluntary role which gives an insight in the workings of the school and an understanding of the education system more generally, as well as an opportunity to develop skills in strategic decision-making.  Vacancies for parent governors and community governors occasionally become available so, if you are interested in supporting the school as a member of the governing body, please contact Mr McCarthy, the headteacher.

Currently we have no major gaps in knowledge, as shown by a recent skills audit.  However, as part of our succession planning we are looking to add to our knowledge of finance, resources and buildings.

Please visit the Meet the School Governors page for the current membership of the Local Governing Body.
